Edina Normandale Park Neighborhood
Normandale park is a great neighborhood just west of highway 100, adjacent to Brookview Heights, that sits up on a gentle hill surrounding its namesake. The center point of the neighborhood is Normandale Park, a wonderful multi-purpose park that features unprogrammed greenspace, beautiful groves of old-growth oak trees, huge playground, tennis courts, basketball court, hockey rink, warming house, baseball fields, and soccer fields. There’s really something for everyone, and the park is a common meeting place for both the Normandale Park and Brookview Heights Neighborhood. Most of the homes in the area are classic 1950-1960 ramblers, mixed in with two story homes and, of course, newer construction homes in the $800,000-$900,000 range. For the modern enthusiast, there are a also a number of historically significant mid-century homes on the western edge of the neighborhood, most of which were built by Lundgren Bros. In fact, in 2014, the City of Edina organized a tour of the historic Savory Gardens on Whiting Ave, along with a number of Lundgren-built homes nearby. Normandale Park is extremely convenient, and allows quick access to Minnehaha Creek, Edina High School, and Valley View Middle School via Valley Lane, and across to the northern section of Edina via the Wyman Bridge.
